Abstract
The developments in Information Communication Technology (ICT) have revolutionized the higher education scenario of the modern world. In this paper, the authors examine the latest developments in the various facts of ICT- personal computers, Multimedia, Telecommunication technology, computer and communication networks, library and information systems and networks and the services on the internet and their role in the higher education system. The emerging trends in higher education both formal and distance education systems caused by the impact of ICT are also presented in detail.
