Abstract

So far we have mostly discussed the estimation problems of finite population totals or means in case of linear functions of observations. The problem remains not so simple when we deal with estimation of parameters which are nonlinear functions of several linear parameters. Their variances or mean square errors (MSE’s) become complicated to write in simple exact forms. To solve these problems, different alternative techniques are discussed in this section. The non-linear parameters include ratio of two linear totals, etc. correlation coefficient, regression coefficients.
