Abstract
In India, many IT & ITES companies are going for Six Sigma initiatives because of the pressure of the clients from USA and Europe. It is good to solve the defect and waste related problems following Six Sigma approach. The initiatives have resulted in cost savings and customer satisfactions for these companies. However, manufacturing and agricultural sectors are yet to experience the maximum benefit out of Six Sigma Initiatives. India will remain largely limited if these two sectors do not leverage the potential available and leveraging the potential requires Six Sigma approach to reinforce with its best resource and might Six Sigma projects for Indian Manufacturing sector requires strong top leadership support to really mean to link to the sustainable top line and bottom line performance. Projects after project following Six Sigma-DMAIC approach may not be able to cut much ice in Indian Manufacturing Sectors. Hence authors deemed it necessary to adopt the approach of RDMAICSI to take the Six Sigma initiative as a organization-wide initiatives not project by project initiatives. The models has been sufficiently adapted to deem fit for Indian manufacturing sector and the same has been verified in a steel manufacturing company.
