Abstract
The study presented here focuses upon the MHCV truck segment in general and particularly on multi axle heavy trucks of 25 tonnes GVW and above, which is seeing an ever-growing acceptance among the Indian trucking fraternity - due to their supposed higher productivity, operational efficiency and consequentially higher profitability. The study highlights the need for multi-axle trucks to have high standards of safety by providing insight upon the efficiency of the drivers, which can be further improved by an improved working condition by providing air-conditioned and ergonomically upgraded factory-made cabins, as the degree of tiredness felt among the respondent drivers were observed to be less in comparison to the drivers in non-air-conditioned cabins.
