Abstract

We have been covering so long the design-based contents in survey sampling. We have talked about general sampling designs p, expectation, bias, mean square error, variance, standard error, confidence interval, inclusion probabilities, existence theorems, concepts of sufficiency, minimal sufficiency, complete class theorems, etc. with reference to general designs of course. But we have had detailed discussions related only to equal probability sampling or Simple Random Sampling only, though separately for with and without replacement cases. But now we intend to refer to several specific cases of sampling with unequal or varying probabilities. Of course, we have to cite reasons for advocating their merits and privileges for employing them in practice.
